SARAH D’SOUZA

Sarah D’Souza joined HNK as an Associate Attorney in 2026. She works with Senior Counsel Mike Davis, and her practice focuses on removal defense, family-based immigration, and affirmative immigration filings.
Prior to joining HNK, Sarah worked at a small immigration firm in Washington, D.C., where she primarily represented clients in removal proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). She served as lead counsel for clients during interviews, ICE check ins, and final merits hearings. As a zealous advocate, Sarah has successfully secured the termination of removal proceedings, stopped ICE officers from detaining her client, persuaded the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to withdraw evidence against her client, and negotiated alternatives to electronic monitoring to avoid the placement of ankle monitors.
Sarah’s passion for immigration law stems from being the daughter of immigrants and her time volunteering at the Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California border. During law school, she developed significant experience in immigration by working as a legal intern for two years at the boutique immigration firm Cardona & Elliott, LLC. Sarah also practiced immigration law as a student-attorney in the University of Maryland’s Immigration Clinic. During her year in the clinic, Sarah led her team to win asylum for a family of five.
