Laura Lorenzo

Laura joined HNK as an associate attorney in 2026. Working with partner Yusuf Ahmad and senior attorney Doran Shemin, she focuses her practice on removal defense, federal litigation, and employment-based immigration.
Prior to joining the firm, Laura worked as a senior attorney at Amica Center for Immigrant Rights, where she litigated a wide range of complex removal cases in immigration courts all over the country, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits. In that capacity, Laura also secured the release of detained clients through habeas petitions before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
Laura also previously worked in private practice at a boutique law firm in Falls Church, Virginia where she worked on family-based petitions and humanitarian matters.
Originally from Argentina, Laura worked as a G-4 at several international organizations in Washington, D.C., including the World Bank Group, the IMF, and the Inter-American Development Bank, before turning to immigration law. Laura’s personal insight into the complexities of navigating the immigration system allows her to better anticipate client needs throughout legal representation.
