Sandra (Sandy) Lackmann

Sandra joined HNK in 2025 as an associate attorney. She dedicates her practice to removal defense, federal litigation, humanitarian relief, and ability-based immigrant visas. She has secured the release of multiple detained clients through habeas petitions before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and litigates a wide range of removal cases in immigration court, including asylum and non‑LPR cancellation of removal. She also successfully secured approval of an EB-1A extraordinary ability petition for a neurosurgeon.
With nearly a decade of experience in immigration law through various roles, Sandra brings extensive foundational and practical knowledge to her practice. She was a student intern and then clinical fellow at the University of Miami School of Law Immigration Clinic, where she represented individuals in removal proceedings before the Miami and Orlando immigration courts. She also clerked at Catholic Charities Legal Services of Miami and at a boutique employment immigration firm in downtown Miami.
Sandra is a fluent Spanish speaker, and her multilingual abilities allow her to effectively advocate for and connect with a diverse client base. She is committed to pro bono service and has participated in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) pro bono project, providing pro bono consultations to individuals in ICE detention.
